Custom Blends

Custom Blends

We manufacture customised blends catering for individual customer’s requirements. From protein to energy levels for calves, heifers, beef animals, dairy cows and sheep.

The use of blends in ruminant diets can offer a very cost-effective way of feeding.
While reducing the overall cost without compromising performance.
We only use top quality ingredients straights and minerals in all our blends.

We can manufacture to your own individual requirements, ensuring you maximise your farm’s potential without compromising herd health.

Our blends are produced with accurate computerised precision, so your blend % of each raw material will be exactly as you have requested.

If you want a consistent product with no raw material changes, then we are the company for you. As you consider the variations between farms in terms of cow yields, type of forage, amount of forage, forage quality, home grown cereals, parlour cakes etc you can see that one type of blend does not fit all situations.

Please ring us on 01948 661602 for your requirements and give us a chance to prove how competitive we can be along with our guarantee of a FIXED FORMULATION. Can your current supplier guarantee that in writing? As raw material prices fluctuate, we have no doubt that some manufacturers substitute cheaper ingredients to maintain the price.

Getting the blend right will improve performance in terms of yields, quality and cow health. A properly balanced blend can be worth up to 5 litres per cow using the same quality of inputs.

Does your blend:

  • Have a range of carbohydrate sources linked to forage type?
  • Provide a blend of proteins to match to the carbohydrate sources without the use of excessive protein?
  • Be part of a whole diet that reduces the risk of acidosis and aids rumen function?
  • Meet current ration standards for high yielding cows?
  • Stimulate dry matter intakes up to 4% of body weight?
  • Produce high yields whilst still maintaining milk from forage meeting the criteria of maximum margin at least cost?

In order to help you and to give you a rough idea of two simple blends that may typically be used on farm, we have formulated a couple of feed examples.

GP Feeds can offer advice on formulating blends that work. Give us a ring on 01948 661602 for an opportunity to make your blend stand out.

Feeding rates are estimates, and other factors, such as animal health and environment, can have a greater impact on how animals perform. There is no guarantee that animals will perform as expected if fed the suggested rates. Rations should be balanced to provide enough energy and protein for animals, and they should include enough forage to keep the rumen healthy. Animals also need access to fresh water at all times.
