Sunflower Meal / Pellets

Sunflower Meal / Pellets

Sunflower has good protein levels. It is high in fibre which, if originating from the seed coat, is poorly digested and should be finely ground.

Removing the hulls from the meal produces a more digestible product with higher protein levels (Hipro Sunflower). Well suited to ruminant rations within which it can help reduce acidosis by its fibre contribution.

Analysis Glossary

Limits to Usage

Slightly laxative at high levels.

Storage / Processing

The meal will oxidise and go rancid. Should be ground finely to break up husks.

Material to have been stored in compliance with DEFRA code of practice for the control of salmonella.

Feeding rates are estimates, and other factors, such as animal health and environment, can have a greater impact on how animals perform. There is no guarantee that animals will perform as expected if fed the suggested rates. Rations should be balanced to provide enough energy and protein for animals, and they should include enough forage to keep the rumen healthy. Animals also need access to fresh water at all times.
