Flaxpro
Flaxpro
Flaxpro is a combination of rumen protected fat and a concentrated source of omega-3 fatty acids from protected linseed. Flaxpro is manufactured using unique Volac technology designed to ensure high digestibility of the product while supplying essential omega-3 fatty acids to the animal. Research has demonstrated the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for improving reproduction of dairy cows. Up to 55 % of embryos are estimated to die in early gestation and omega-3 fatty acids can play a key role in reducing this loss.
Product Benefits
- Energy and protein to increase milk production
- Omega-3 alters prostaglandin production to improve fertility.
- Omega-3 is important in helping the immune system to fight infection
The Benefits of Feeding Flaxpro
- The ingredients in Flaxpro have been specifically selected and uniquely processed to improve milk production and fertility.
- Energy supply and milk production
- Flaxpro is an energy-dense product (23 MJ/kg DM).
- Flaxpro can help reduce negative energy balance in early lactation when cows are unable to eat sufficient energy to meet their requirements for maintenance and milk production.
- Optimal milk production requires a balance of nutrients; Flaxpro also contains high quality protein to help balance the additional energy.
Improves Fertility
- Flaxpro is a unique source of functional omega-3 fatty acids.
- Omega-3 fatty acids reduce production of prostaglandins and help ensure survival of embryos and maintenance of pregnancy.
- Flaxpro helps reduce negative energy balance in early lactation. Cows in negative energy balance (losing body condition score) have much poorer fertility than cows gaining or maintaining body condition.
- Fat in Flaxpro increases production of progesterone, the essential hormone for pregnancy.
- Fatty acids in Flaxpro lead to production of larger dominant follicles and higher quality, more viable oocytes (eggs).
Health
- Flaxpro does not contain rapidly fermented ingredients so does not lead to accumulation of acidosis-causing acids in the rumen.
- Additional energy helps reduce negative energy balance conditions such as ketosis and fatty liver.
- Omega-3 fatty acids in Flaxpro are important for functioning of the immune system to help fight infection.

Disclaimer
Feeding rates are estimates, and other factors, such as animal health and environment, can have a greater impact on how animals perform. There is no guarantee that animals will perform as expected if fed the suggested rates. Rations should be balanced to provide enough energy and protein for animals, and they should include enough forage to keep the rumen healthy. Animals also need access to fresh water at all times.
