CS PLUS

Exclusive to GP Feeds CS PLUS (maintains condition score) is a specially formulated fatty acid blend processed with a selected glucose preparation into a free flowing dust-free meal.

CS PLUS has been designed for raising BUTTERFATS in particular, whilst improving milk yield, maintaining cow condition and helping with fertility. The blend of protected and slow release fatty acids C16 has been put together to maximize synergistic effects on net energy yield and milk quality. The unsaturated: saturated ratio is close to 3:1. The glucose blend enhances liver function and hormonal, nervous and enzymic systems to increase overall animal performance.

Benefits

  • Specific fat profile high in C16:0 to maximise butterfats
  • A high energy content to encourage milk yield
  • Ideal for use with spring grass
  • Maximises butterfats
  • Sustains milk yields
  • Maintains the cows body condition
  • Promotes optimal liver function
  • High glucose levels
  • Highly palatable
  • Can be fed as a straight or added to blends, compounds and TMR diets
  • Free flowing and easy to use
  • Fully traceable.

Usage:

CS PLUS is designed for mixing into compound feeds or home mix diets. The recommended usage rate is 300 g per cow per day. However levels can be increased for high performance dairy cows.

CS PLUS maybe included in compound feed at a rate of up to 50kg per tonne.

It is packaged in 25kg bags (1.2T per pallet) for farm delivery.

Energy supply for the dairy cow

Energy for the ruminant comes mainly from forage, compound and dry feeds. Of theswe, the major variable is forage and is frequently the cause of performance that does not reach expectation. Other sources of energy to consider are those from oils, fats and sugars. Straight fats contain over three times as much estimated ME as cereals so can raise the nutrient energy density of a diet. Adding the right type of fat product can increase the energy component of the diet and butterfat in milk without affecting rumen function or appetite, consequently giving better performance in terms of milk yield and quality, cow condition and fertility.

CS Plus is ideal for use with spring grass

Digestion of fats

Too much free oil in the rumen can inhibit fibre digestion, which reduces DM intake and reduces overall digestibility. The right fat product must be highly available in the small intestine, have the correct balance of oils for synergistic energy, the appropriate ratio of unsaturated : saturated fatty acids and be slowly released in the rumen.

The unique manufacturing process of CS PLUS using glucose syrup ensures that the fatty acids are slowly released into the rumen. This mimics the digestion of fat in grass, thus avoiding metabolic problems in the rumen and facilitating microbial activity. Other fatty acids are released later in the abomasum.

Benefits of glucose

There are many forms of sugars but types can vary. Sugars rich in glucose are preferred. CS PLUS contains sugars that are mostly glucose and maltose, (which is slowly converted into glucose). Glucose stimulates most body functions including hormone, immune and nervous systems making cows more active when breeding, less prone to disease and calmer. However, the biggest effect is probably in incraesing milk yeild and protein, as glucose is a precurser to lactose which can affect how much milk a cow produces. It is essential that the tissues are provided with sufficient glucose and if the liver can not provide enough then a supply in the diet in a protected or slow release form is desirable.

The special glucose / maltose syrup used in CS PLUS is safe, efficient and effective.

COSTING JUST ½ PENCE PER LITRE PER DAY FOR A 30 LITRE COW

Our trial work was conducted on farms in the Cheshire area, by an independent nutritionist and we found on average that there was a 0.3% increase in butterfat over all the trial farms.

The other implications were on fertility.

Based upon similar number of cows

Av Services / day
Conception Rate
Average with CS Plus
1.34
39.50%
Average without CS Plus
1.26
33.58

Therefore an increased heat detection rate of 6.00%

And an Increased conception rate of 5.92%

With this dual effect on the cows CS Plus is a must for the modern dairy cow.

WHICH FARMS MAY BENEFIT FROM CS PLUS?

  • High yielding spring calvers with minimum buffer feed and grazing short material
  • Farms on a borderline of large price deductions for butterfats
  • Farmers on compositional contracts

This product will be available for feeding in a buffer mix or can be incorporated in the dairy compound on request.

A great return on your money for a little outlay.
