Cane molasses
Cane molasses is a sweet black liquid produced as a co-product of the production of sugar from the sugar cane plant. After dissolving sugars out of the fibrous cane at high temperature, the crystals of sugar settle out as the liquid cools leaving the Cane Molasses, sometimes called "Black Strap", behind.
High in bother sucrose sugars and fermentable energy making it an ideal energy supplements and sweetening agent for Dairy, Beef and Sheep rations.
Cane Molasses is suitable for inclusion in the diets of all ruminant
livestock and can offer a very effective way to increase the palatability
of feeds whilst contributing high levels of energy from sugars.

Limits to Usage
It has a high potassium and salt content which can lead to scouring especially in younger animals. High levels of sugar in ruminant rations could lead to acidosis.
Storage / Processing
Stores well for up to one year. Will thicken in cold weather, and a blend with condensed molasses solubles (CMS) may be needed to ensure flowability out of a gravity fed tank.
Material to have been stored in compliance with DEFRA code of practice for the control of salmonella.
